Swahili Speakers Please Stand Up!!

If you speak Swahili you should add yourself to this community. No one or government agency is keeping accurate records of how many Swahili speakers there are in the United States. I've read that there are as many as 50 to 110 million Swahili speakers world-wide, the highest concentration existing in East Africa.

"Microsoft launched(Dec. 2006) its software in Swahili targeting more than 110 million speakers of the language. The Swahili Windows and Office programs are a product of two years of work by language experts from East and Central Africa."
"There are more than 100 million Swahili-speakers in the region - in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and parts of the Horn of Africa, Great Lakes, Malawi, Mozambique and the Indian Ocean islands" said a Microsoft executive.

If we had close to an accurate account of Swahili speakers in the U.S. we could push for this language to be taught in our public school system. The U.S. only recognizes numbers, large numbers! Go to this website and ADD yourself to this growing community and put Swahili speakers on the map!!
