I feel overjoyed reading your sentiments on wanting Kiswahili to be taught in schools in the US. I translate text from English to Kiswahili and I feel very obliged. It would be good to have the language taught out there because it's the only unifying factor Africa is going to have for centuries to come. I attended a public lecture by Prof. Wole Soyinka and he is one scholar who whole heartedly advocates for Africa to learn and market the Swahili language. We as children of Africa need to make a mark with our heritage like the French and Spanish.
