About Us

This free tutorial website was created to bring together Swahili speakers and African-Americans. There are over 50 million Swahili speakers in Africa and over 50 thousand Africans that come to America each year in search of a new life. Although there are many Swahili speakers in America no one or collective agency is keeping accurate records of this as they do with every other language. Swahili speakers need to be accounted for and establish our own communities. Let's do this here! I want to bring BASIC Swahili to African-Americans and expose them to this language which had been predominantly denied to them. I beseech my African-American people to go to Barnes & Nobles and Borders Books & Music and purchase Swahili books and audio tapes. Every other cultures' languages are taught in public schools but not one African language is in the average curriculum.....WHY?!! If we don't ask - the school boards will never consider it! Before you learn anyone else's language learn a language that reflects YOUR heritage.....LEARN SWAHILI FIRST!!!

The administrator of this site was born and raised in the South Bronx, New York. He received his BA degree in Communications at The College of Saint Rose, class of '92. The co-author of this site grew up in Waterford New York and amongst a long list of pre-college academic accomplishments he graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS Degree in Computer and Systems Engineering. The administrator, Earl F. Mckayhan, and co-author, David J. Noble, met as freshmen while attending Saint Rose College in '87. They have been best friends ever since their first conversation about God. These two men have developed and maintained their friendship based on two very important characteristics, HUMILITY and COMARADERIE. Earl's passion for Swahili and Dave's computer savvy crossed paths on April 27th, 2006 when this site was born. Earl's desire is to spread basic Swahili throughout the African-American youth and the Hip-Hop community. Dave has the technological abilities to make Earl's dream a reality. Swahili Nation is now in motion!!
